Walter’s Whities Win

tightywhitiesIf Breaking Bad taught us anything, it was that people love a crazed man in tighty whities. The Guardian newspaper and Bartle Bogle Hergarty (BBH) realized this and have decided to copy apply it to their advertising.

First Holiday Ad of the Year

Ugh. I hate myself for posting Christmas commercials in November. It goes against everything I believe in. But I couldn’t help myself. This new spot for Barclaycard by BBH is just too damn cute not to share. Check out their free iPhone game as well, and “play with Mr B, Chomp and Mike the robot, who will spring to life in the palm of your hand.”

Thanks, Denver Egoist.

Dive In

This gorgeous spot was created by BBH London, with post-production and visual effects by The Mill. This spot was inspired by the Busby Berkeley films from the 1930s. The director/choreographer would make the dancers look like human kaleidoscopes.

All I know is that this spot really makes me want a Baileys on ice, real bad.

Helpless

Today’s commercial is a hard-hitting PSA by BBH London for St. John’s Ambulance.

The spot is two minutes long and tells the story of a man diagnosed with cancer. We follow him through his journey, and … well, you’ll have to see what happens.

What Are You Driving At?

The following commercial, by BBH London, showcases the Audi A6 Avant’s ultra-lightweight construction. Although a visual cornucopia, this ad leaves me with an uneasy feeling. It’s devoid of nature and focuses on a world where cars and industry are the fabric of everyday life. Literally. Everything is made from car-related items.

Now I’m no granola-eating, patchouli-scented, tree-hugging hippie, but this commercial makes me want to take public transport more often. Why? It has undertones of Pixar’s Wall-E. Industry and consumption mixed with old-timey music. It just seems ominous – especially when the hummingbird drinks from the gas pump. See for yourself.

Weetabix: Worse Than Dubstep?

Weetabix Chocolate Spoonsize; finally, a truth in advertising. Kids! Get effed up on sugar, hallucinate with some dancing bears and destroy your bedrooms!

Now the only two questions left to ask are… one: why is she eating cereal in her bedroom and two: why are her friends sitting on the floor and watching her eat cereal in her bedroom?

This spot was created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) and features nine-year old Arizona Snow (seriously, that’s her name), a young street-dance prodigy.
