Continuing yesterday’s theme of ‘everything but the kitchen sink’, here’s yet another insanely absurd Old Spice spot. This one is called “I Will Live Forever” and it is part of the “Believe in Your Smellf” campaign.
It’s funny as hell, and I like the way Old Spice continues to tweak their advertising and keep it new. They maintain a constant ‘cool-factor’ which started back in 2010 with the Isiah Mustafa spots, but evolve to maintain a certain freshness (yeah, I went there).
Did you know that original “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” spot has over 41 million views?
The “Motorcycle” spot is at 2 million views and climbing. This might be my favourite ad of the bunch.
I could go on posting videos, but I won’t. Because there are 413 videos uploaded on Old Spice’s YouTube channel with a total combined view count of 292,948,120. << Seriously!!!
As much as I don’t like the product, and as much as some of the advertising can get on my nerves, these guys did everything right. Working with W+K, Old Spice created the most successful online video campaigns of all time and I don’t see that ending any time soon.
I tried to track down any actual sales figures to prove the success, but I got distracted by a cute kitten video. So I don’t have any solid numbers to share with you. But here’s that kitten video.
