In Vancouver, it is by no means a Slurpee Day.
But watching the following video for “BYO Cup Day”, which happened in September 2011 throughout Australia, makes me long for a sunny day and a Slurpee (mixed with vodka, of course).
BYO Cup Day was a really fun idea by Leo Burnett, Melbourne that;
- played to people’s inner fat gurl. There were no size restrictions on the cup.
- let customers be creative, and somewhat gross with their choice of Slurpee vessels. (see: work boot.)
- got customers in the store, resulting in greater, overall sales.
- got 7-11 a butt-load of sales and media, and online attention.
I would have brought in my own Slurpee machine as my cup, then wheeled it back up to my office where Mr. Belvedere was waiting for me.
