The following commercial, by BBH London, showcases the Audi A6 Avant’s ultra-lightweight construction. Although a visual cornucopia, this ad leaves me with an uneasy feeling. It’s devoid of nature and focuses on a world where cars and industry are the fabric of everyday life. Literally. Everything is made from car-related items.
Now I’m no granola-eating, patchouli-scented, tree-hugging hippie, but this commercial makes me want to take public transport more often. Why? It has undertones of Pixar’s Wall-E. Industry and consumption mixed with old-timey music. It just seems ominous – especially when the hummingbird drinks from the gas pump. See for yourself.
