See Cyclist. Think Horse.

An odd but entertaining public interest ad for Cycling Scotland that might even be a little over the top for the Vancouver cycling crowd. This ad, called ‘Horse’ was created by Newhaven UK in Edinburgh.

Does this mean when a cyclist gets old, they’re sent to the glue factory?

"I look nothing like that!"

“I look nothing like that!”

Smart Advertising

I came across this ad on AdWeek today – and I was instantly in love.

This spot by BBDO Germany was shown at Cannes to an adoring audience. I was surprised because how could this spot make it past me on its way to Cannes? I clearly need to spend more time on the internet.

And if you ever wonder about an off-road Smart Car, yes, it has been done… kind of. Check out this Smart Monster:

Ciao, Tokyo!

This one’s for you, my outdoor advertising enthusiast. You think you’ve seen station domination? You ain’t seen nothin!

M&C Saatchi in Milan turned one of their subway stations into an exact replica of Shibuya Station in Tokyo for their client “Fastweb“. Watch this.

Beware!

They’re not groundbreaking, but I really like the simplicity of this series of Volkswagen ads from AlmapBBDO, Argentina to launch Side Assist technology.

The Big K

Kmart is back with another cheeky little ad created by DraftFCB Chicago. Remember the first one? Ship My Pants? Now they’re slinging Big Gas Savings.

I love them… just tread lightly K-Mart. These could get old mighty quick.

(Remember that time they tried to rename themselves to “Big K” – whatever happened to that?)

It Could Have Been Worse

CouldhavebeenworseThis is a fantastically brilliant ad for the Norwegian Association of the Blind called “It Could Have Been Worse”. The ad agency, Try/Apt Norway uses humour hilariously outrageous situations to prove that taking a service dog on-board public transit or into a taxi isn’t really a big deal.

You might recall their previous ad which was a little more controversial and cheeky:

Trolo-A-Go-Go

Cute spot for the new Beetle Convertible, called ‘Mask’. Created by Deutsch, LA. My favorite part? The fact that they’re playing Trololo as the background music in the store. Two thumbs up.

Get Happy vs. Das Hund

Hello, Chefs. There are two dishes on the chopping block today. Both prepared for us by Volkswagen.

The first, Volkswagen’s ‘Get Happy’ spot by Deutsch LA. Which is supposed to be their Super Bowl spot, but was released early and is now “causing a lot of controversy” – this according to news sources.

WHAT? Who finds this controversial? Whoever it was probably confused the word “controversial” with the word “mediocre”. Please. This spot is about as controversial as my last pedicure. Is it good? No. Did  I pay too much for what I got? Probably. Is it repulsive? Not at all. It will pass if no one looks too closely. But I won’t be going there again.

Next!

DDB Amsterdam brings us the next Volkswagen spot. Which I must say is leaps and bounds (or kibbles and bits) better than the first spot I made you sit through.

Meet ‘Das Hund’.

Feels Good Inside

Chances are that you may have seen this already, but I don’t really care. Because I love it. And this is my blog. Not yours. I need to post it, so it becomes part of my archives.

Created by Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand, this spot (called ‘Feels Good Inside’…) stars a ridiculously fluffy cat who falls in love with his owner’s new Toyota Corolla. And this cat will do absolutely anything to take a ride in the new car. Anything.

No Translation Needed

This commercial, created by lg2 for the Société de l-assurance automobile du Quebec (SAAQ), may be in French, but I think you can get the picture.

The copy translates to “We didn’t use to write messages while driving. There must have been a good reason.”
