Woo! Woo!

This is an ad for Adobe Marketing Cloud that I came across on The San Fran Egoist site. It was created by those brilliantly hilarious folks over at Goodby Silverstein & Partners. And basically, this spot is funny because it’s true.

Stinking Try Hards

social media dbagAxe, the bane of my olfactory sense’s existence, has released a new campaign from Barton F. Graff 9000 introducing their Social Effort Scale. It ranks the amount of effort you put into social media.

Why?

Because apparently women like guys who use social media effortlessly.

Here, watch this video:

So if you’re overusing hashtags, taking too many selfies, and God forbid, showing your duck face to the world, you, sir are trying too hard. Want to know your score? Go to SocialEffortScale.com (I’m +147).

HaiQ

2014-03-04 23.35.10I came across this app the other day. I’ve downloaded it. Played around with it. And have yet to be impressed with it. I see potential – but I keep wonder ‘what’s the angle?’ I couldn’t find any corporate messaging or anything behind it…

But here, you try. This app is called HaiQ. It takes Instagram photos from your area and mixes it with (some interestingly translated) haiku. This was designed by Alquimiawrg (not a spelling mistake) which is member of the White Red Green group. I don’t know what that means, but it seemed important.

Honey Badger DOES Give a Shit… About Social Media

tweeting badgerThe Jo’burg Zoo needed someone to run their social media, and they decided to promote from within.

That’s how BG, the resident honey badger, became the new Social Media Manager. Yep, all you Social Media Managers out there… a honey badger is now doing your job. And he’s really good. BG already has over 10,000 followers on Twitter.

He even posts selfies as you can see on my left, here. A brilliant campaign by Johannesburg’s Hello Computer.

Facebook Fraud

Veritasium decided to investigate exactly how and if Facebook advertising worked. The results are pretty surprising. Take a look at the video:

facebook adsMy experience with Facebook ads has been great. However, my targeting for all my campaigns in the past was extremely specific and local. I personally have not really experienced a bad result from Facebook ads yet – however, this video will act as a strong reminder to ensure any campaign I choose to do going forward is highly targeted (fans of existing pages, or only specific cities).
