If We Won

“Let’s see how many dirty words we can fit into our ad!”

This is why beer accounts are the darlings of the advertising world. Who cares if it actually sells more product (alcohol is addictive, we already got ‘em, duh!). Just make an awesome ad and be sure to spend a shit-ton of money.

Done.

Hipster Hijack

It’s sunny out. I gotta go drink wine on a patio.

Speaking of booze, here’s a funny spot for Garagista beer in South Africa.

Dead Drunk

elvisBavaria Radler has just released an ad which, in their words, clears up any stories and theories surrounding the death of certain stars like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Kurt Cobain, etc.

Good news! They’re not dead. They’re all chilling on a well-staffed, deserted island and drunk on Bavaria grapefruit and lemon 2% beer. (Sounds like Purgatory to me.)

Sapeures

I couldn’t look away from this beautifully shot Guinness ad by AMV BBDO UK. It features the gentlemen of Le Sap – the society for people of elegance and ambiance in the Congo. Learn more about them here.

Delightfully Odd

Shiner Beer worked with McGarrah Jessee in Austin to come up with these two delightfully odd spots for Shiner White Wing Belgian White beer.

Fire At The Old Well!

A cute spot from Colenso BBDO Auckland for DB Export Gold. This could be a valid excuse to get a Collie.

Farmers are the real champions

old-farmer-with-overalls-on-thumb4753963The new official Kronenbourg beer advert starring the Manchester United football legend Eric Cantona was shot in France on 35mm film. I’m pretty sure this was created by Frame Store.

I’m Not Bitter

Another fun set of creative from Clemenger, BBDO Melbourne. Today’s trio of TV ads may make you thirsty.

These three spots portray manly men, do manly things like sweating and cleaning gutters. Mowing lawns and pulling out splinters with pliers. And of course, drinking Victoria Bitter beer after a day of hard work.

The unique close-up angles are really cool and were created by attaching tiny cameras to the hammers, axes, and chain saws used within the spot. Let’s watch!

Dream the Impossible Dream

Fact: men like beer.

Fact: Australian men REALLY like beer.

So then why would Canadian Club whiskey decide it would be a good idea to publicly shame Australian beer drinkers into switching their choice of beverages? Betty Ford only knows.

Created by The Works, Sydney, in their new campaign, Canadian Club just stops short of calling beer drinkers fat, stinky, farty, gross and dumb.

Oh, and in addition to the above, beer drinkers are also boring and have launched an assault on common decency.

This approach is all wrong. Canadian Club is a great product, enjoyed by many. But it shouldn’t try to, nor would it ever replace beer. That would be the impossible dream. And insulting your target audience is no way to achieve any amount of success. Insert sad trombone here.

Head over to Canadian Club’s Australian YouTube page if you need to see more.

Sheen Hits the Bullseye

I’m not a Charlie Sheen fan. However, this new commercial by Selmore, Amsterdam for Bavaria beer made me laugh out loud. Seriously.

It could have been the stern-looking cop nursing a cold one on the hood of his car or the strategically placed (and perfectly delivered) F-word. From start to finish, this spot is so on target, it’s practically a sniper. Anyone who’s given up the drink can totally relate.

Charlie's pet chimp was always getting high.
