Shame: now in an aresol

Playboy has released a line of super classy body sprays to compete with Axe. Now you too can smell like last night’s party and bad choices. Each bottle comes with a free one-year prescription of penicillin.

And don’t forget to douse yourself in enough product so that people on the street can actually taste your scent in the air. That’s a real turn-on!

Breath Deep

Mr. Sketch scented markers have been around forever. Those fantastically scented, use ‘em before they shrivel up markers. Those squeaky, lose the cap, get ink all over your hands markers. Those markers whose owners were easily identified by small, multicoloured rectangles on the tips of their noses.

I’ve never seen an ad for these markers until today – and I was not disappointed. I’m not sure which agency produced this, but whoever did, kudos. I laugh every time.

JDate

Terri & Sandy, USA created some ads for JDate, and SoulPancake did the production. This first one, ‘Jewish Parents’ is the best of three.

These two, not as funny.

Big Ideas Take Balls

The Knacki Ball. There is no actual way to make these look remotely appetizing.

The Knacki Ball.
There is no actual way to make these look remotely appetizing.

I was doing some research today for offbeat marketing ideas and I came across this concept by BBDO, Belgium for Herta, which is a brand of pre-cooked Frankfurters, owned by Nestlé. (Gross, but okay.)

Herta launched a limited edition version of their frankfurters, shaped like little soccer balls. They built and placed a vending machine to give away free meat balls in a high traffic area. But in order to get their prize, people had to play a soccer match inside the vending machine – the world’s smallest soccer stadium – against Belgian football legend Leo Van Der Elst.

Setting aside my disgust for room temperature hot dog balls, and sadness for the former football legend stuck in a vending machine, this is a really fun idea!

You Should Probably Make an Appearance

The latest AdDrinx event has been announced for Vancouver! We’re holding it on the (G0d willing) sunny patio of the Art Gallery.

Some appetizers will be provided courtesy of AOL, and there will be a few door prizes. But mostly this is a great event to come hang out on a sunny patio with your friends, co-workers, and other industry folks. Super casual.

Click on the image below and RSVP to the event so they know how much food to order!

Don’t Be Smart With Me

Sleepthinker is a London-based production company. Here’s one of their self-promo videos. It’s not new. It was published to YouTube back in March 2013, and has over two million views. Which is interesting, because it’s kind of a viral video, but in super slow motion.

The premise; a pill on offer that lowers your IQ, because “the world’s a much brighter place when you’re not too bright for it”.

If We Won

“Let’s see how many dirty words we can fit into our ad!”

This is why beer accounts are the darlings of the advertising world. Who cares if it actually sells more product (alcohol is addictive, we already got ‘em, duh!). Just make an awesome ad and be sure to spend a shit-ton of money.

Done.

Young Guns

Everyone is busy recapping the winners from Cannes. We’ve seen all those ads, and most of us predicted which ones would win big. Yawnzilla.

So I went looking for something new and came across this Southern Comfort ad. Another fun, don’t-give-an-eff spot from Wieden + Kennedy, New York. This new guy is no Mel Shampain, but he’s still pretty rockin’ in his high-waisted mom jeans. And I dig his work ethic. He puts in a full 45 seconds then turns tail and heads for a cocktail.
