I am compiling this page to showcase the extent some advertising can go to – in online and traditional media space. You’re really not supposed to see this. It’s like peeking behind the curtain and catching a glimpse of the great and powerful Oz. But I don’t feel like deleting or completing this. So congratulations. You found my secret page! Hooray, n’ shit.
Online Media – Home Page Take-Over
Let’s start with home page take-overs, where an advertiser works with a website/product to take over. This is interruptive/disruptive advertising and when the right message is communicated on the right sites, people will sit up and take notice.
And one of my all time favorite – though not a home page take-over – is this Wario ad. This was instantly viral and had a ton of buzz.
Transit Advertising – Station Domination
Station domination advertising can be powerful if done correctly. It requires a lot of effort and a big budget. Check out the New York City station domination done by The Westin. These guys did it right by clearing all of the other clutter (advertisers) out and putting their mark on everything; from posters to the decor inside the train.
Full newspaper wraps can be very effective and extremely eye-catching. Here are some interesting examples – and one thing to note; when Google Chrome did their wrap, they also took the inside cover. So that when readers opened up the paper, they would be presented with a list of Chrome’s features and benefits.
