Today’s post is for the dogs.
According to Bakers Complete, a Purina brand dog food; “Our latest TV advert now includes special sounds to deliver enjoyment for both dogs and their owners!”
Personally I enjoy it because there is a dog driving a van.
Created by DDB, UK, this minute-long commercial features barks and whistles which are sure to catch the attention of your canine companion. Why would they do such a thing? Well, according to The Telegraph, “Bakers, the dog food manufacturer which commisioned the advert, hope the sounds will provoke a reaction from dogs in living rooms across the country, fooling their owners into thinking they are interested in the products on the screen.”
Fooling their owners… an interesting tactic, to be sure. But will it actually impact sales? Will owners be “fooled” into buying this product? I could imagine some dogs going crazy and barking back at the TV when this spot comes on, perhaps creating the opposite of the desired effect. But only time will tell.
